Theo Edwards, escaping the valley heat in Modesto, and Art Grater, emerging from the fog banks covering the Monterey Bay, met up in San Mateo on a gloriously beautiful Spring day. Although they travelled the farthest, the Long Distance Award for May goes to all of us Bay Area locals for choosing to spend such a perfect day together.
BGBB Home Page news:
Game 7 from the March finals between Ron Karr and Richard McIntosh (Nacknotated by Nick Ballard) is on-line, and it's a very special addition to everyone's collection of backgammon learning material. JellyFish devotees will find food for thought here I've not seen explored anywhere else. Others of us who have played backgammon only with the aids of our learning and the dice gods have a plentiful resource in this analysis as well.
Game 8, April's installment from the Danny Epstein and Michael Derylo finals, will be on-line as soon as vacation and JF rollout schedules allow (the 2nd week in June, or so). We welcome back regular contributor Ron Karr, who has again shared his powerful insight simply and elegantly with this game analysis.
Additions to Songs for Beginners include Favorite Artists: Gladys Knight and the Pips, Chubby Checker, the BeeGees (well...., their name gets them on the list anyway).
Coming soon: Detailed directions on how to get to the San Mateo tourneys via public transport.
