Worth repeating: The December tourney date has been changed from the third Sunday to the FIRST SUNDAY. No tourney on December 21st. Mark your calendars for December 7th!
The few, the proud, the mighty: We were few in number in November, but we had a blast. The round robinners had fun. Nick and Julius scooted in from Las Vegas. Patti's purple aura shone. Harry got a surprise rebate. Claudia's cookies were absolutely fantastic. Danilo found out that even Mac users can play bg on the 'net. Blake is doing his best to recreate the turtle and the hare after the Brownie Points parable. And Roy Dixon brings fond recollections with him back to Delaware. Thanks you all!
The BGBB Lending Library, which was made possible because of Steve Smiley's astounding generosity, is proving a very popular resource (the books, videos and magazines are available for checkout) and respite (The back corner was looking rather reading room-like!). If you'd like to put any particular item on reserve, let us know before the next tourney.
Last February, BGBB's membership program began. Members play at discounted rates, were given priority reservation status at the Bonus July tourney, and are in the race for the Brownie Points crown. Because the accumulation of points is a year-long deal, and because it makes sense that the membership year be a calendar year, next January's BGBB tourney is Double Brownie Points Month. That is, Brownie Points earned in January's tourney will apply to the 1997 February-through-January year and to the 1998 January-through-December year. Translated, it's two-for-one time! The Brownie Points winner gets something gold (all that glory), something chocolate (brownies) and ... something else. And Ron's being very complacent about his lead, folks!
We're moving up our mailing and posting schedule a little bit because of the early December tourney. When the addition of Game #14 to our Annotated Games page, which is a selection from October's finals between Odis Chenault and Tom Henson, with commentary by Elliott Winslow, is posted, you'll be the first to know.
All of you who aren't headed to the Gammon Associates LA tourney (Dec. 5-7), we'd sure like to see you
