Thanks to GamesGrid for honoring the February 15th first- and second-place winners with free memberships. Six-month grand prizes go to Dan Doherty, Emil Malek and Hristo Zahov; three-month subscriptions await Paul Albert, Jeanne Amster (Jeanne says a special thanks to Ken!), Marc Lowe, Kathy May and Richard McIntosh; and a one-month prize to Carmi Brandis (Mo Wasley and Ted Chee will play off for their honors).
Brownie Points Award time meant brownies -- lots of luscious, yummy chocolate treats courtesy of the McIntosh Kitchens. And let me assure all you folks who weren't there for the festivities, those of us who were there thank you for making the extra brownies available :)))
Beginners Division BP Winner Claudia Imatt has a rare LP edition of the album Backgammon by Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers; Intermediate Division BP Winner Roger Gabrielson will be dancing to Bobby Short's Nobody Else But Me CD; and after Ron Karr, BACKGAMMON BY THE BAY's first ever Player of the Year, finishes polishing off his personal batch of brownies, he will be dazzling his unsuspecting opponents with a personalized cherrywood doubling cube. BP Runners Up Bill Landry (Beginners), Michael Mitzenmacher (Intermediate) and Kit Woolsey (Open) will be able to practice that old backgammon adage, but hopefully not literally: Their solid brass doubling cube prizes could indeed be used as weapons.
To all of you who were there to celebrate with us, and to all of you who were being celebrated, Thanks!
Since the tourney on the 15th was our lowest turnout ever, we're wondering if a lot of folks were saving their energies for the Winter Special Tournament on the 28th in San Francisco. If that's so, it will pay to get there early: The draw will start PROMPTLY at noon!
