Thank you Ken Arnold and all the folks at Cyber Arts on behalf of six month winners David Feinberg, Timothy Jaxon and Gloria Lee; three month winners Paul Albert, Nick Ballard, Frank Berkenkotter, Dannia Esquivel and Bill Landry; and one month winner Rawlin Pullen. Thanks to the 'Grid, and may the virtual dice be with you.
Yet another Dane makes the Great leap over the waters: Welcome to Peter Jensen, who's studying at UC Berkeley for the next several months. He gets the Long Distance award this month (on a technicality!) and wears a new t-shirt, courtesy of NetGammon, as his reward. Thanks NetGammon!
Congrats to the October Football Funpack winners, Timothy "What else can I win?" Jaxon and Dannia "I like this American game -- What's it called again?" Esquivel.
Our welcome mat came in handy twice this month: Dannia Esquivel is San Francisco's newest resident -- or at least she will be come December -- or at least she'll be residing somewhere in the Bay Area. Anyway, hugs and we're sure happy you're (soon to be) here!
Web Weavings: It's so nice to hear positive feedback (and in the pursuit of quality, we even like to hear negative input too) about the BGBB Web page. At October's tourney, Richard and I were showered with favorable opinion from one satisfied user, who pronounced the Annotated Games pages "the easiest-to-follow backgammon learning tool ever -- better than any book!" Indeed, we've endeavored to make the Annotated Games a prime example of what the Web can be -- clean and colorful, interactive and intelligent, forthright and fun, all in all a marvellous achievement by Richard and his gang of happy analyzers. Ron Karr's contributions on the weekly Problem Set are particular precious gems. Big thanks to all of you!
Everyone sends speedy recovery wishes to Jim Mason, who recently underwent triple bypass surgery. He expects a complete recuperation, and says he'll see us all again before too long. (Would learning to roll with *both* hands be considered therapeutic exercise, I wonder?) Get well soon, Jim!
Watch for Yolanda Bradshaw during the Christmas week broadcast of Wheel of Fortune. Odis Chenault accompanied Yolanda to the show's taping -- LA holds a special place in the hearts of this family!
Announcements: THIS MESSAGE IS FOR YOU ... if you have an item (or two or more) from the BGBB Lending Library and have forgotten (!) to return it. The honor system lending policy is in jeopardy if the ONE MONTH check-out understanding isn't acknowledged. The books, tapes and magazines can be readily identified by the lovely BGBB bookmark that came with them.
Christian Stoddard wishes to create or join a carpool to the Las Vegas tournament in November. Interested folks can contact Christian at (408) 252-1190, E-mail cs013319@mercury.fhda.edu.
Who will the 1998 Brownie Points winners be? The truth is, no one can yet tell! Early gallopers in the race are now rounding the bend, but the competition is gaining! These are the only remaining chances to add to the 1998 tote board:
