Brownie Points Formula
[Table-based version of this page]
Brownie Points are awarded to club members who place in BACKGAMMON BY THE BAY tournaments. Brownie Points are named for the scrumptious treats that are part of the prize. The number of points awarded is calculated based on the number of players in the Main bracket. Points for third and fourth places may be awarded (or not) at the discretion of the tournament director, depending on the number of players in a division.
The formula is:
M * log2(players)
4 * placewhere the multiplier M depends on the tournament division:
Division Main Consolation ------------ ---- ----------- Open 4 4/3 Intermediate 2 2/3 Beginner 1 1/3
The following table shows examples of points awarded for selected numbers of players in each division.
